I am about to put my Macbook up for sale to fund the purchase of an iPad.

I have my PC for larger tasks and the Macbook seems to just get used for web browsing and the occasional photo editing so it seems a waste just using it for that.

Does this seem like the right choice? :D

Probably not, but I have a good feeling you're going to do it anyway. Next!

... and to offer the opposing view, I did thus and it's been absolutely fine, I don't miss my MBP at all. Of course, I do have the Mac Pro for day to day stuff.

I don't own an iPad.

However, I know a good number who do, either through buying one or being given one at work. The majority seem to find them quite fun at first, but then get seldom use, sticking with their laptop instead.

Just food for thought. I'd certainly wait for the next one anyways... as I know there is the old adage 'buy it if you need it'. But the iPad is a luxury and a first generation product which we all know will be improved with the first revision.

The iPad handles 95% of the stuff I previously did on a MacBook, so for the convenience of instant on and small form factor it is the right choice for me.
