So I bought COD: MW2 - It's OK, not all the hype made it out to be, but alright.

I'll probably sell it on again shortly when I've completed it but this time it's tied to my Steam account.

Is there any provision within Steam to have this disassociated from my account and the CD key made available for someone else to associate it to their steam account should I decide to sell??

No is the simple answer.

Its activisions attempt at bypassing the second hand market. Given the changes they've made it would seem plausible that many copies of the game would be returned and profit lost through second hand sales. Tieing games to STEAM means that they avoid having people take games back, and new customers will have to buy copies that put money in to their pockets.

Shame you didnt setup a separate Steam ID for it, I'd consider buying a copy from an honest OcUK member who has done, and I'd sell it on again after playing the SP.

This is something every person who uses Steam should be aware of, and before you buy any game you should properly read the packaging (or about the game) and let yourself know what you're in for.

It's nice to buy loads of cheap games off Steam, but don't let that fog the reality that games are permanently tied to your account. This isn't so bad with the games you actually buy from Steam, but terrible for retail games that incorporate it because it renders the physical packaging and disk worthless as soon as you tie it to your account.

This may be the future of physical retail games. If you don't like it, tell them.

Simple - if you want to sell the game after playing it, create new Steam ID. If you want to keep it, tie it to your current account.

Valve were somewhat nicer about second-hand copies of HL2 - only asking for a photo of the cd-key from inside the box, then they'd release the key and let you use it on a different account. I get the impression that Activision will not be quite as forthcoming.

I always give my second hand games to charity shops so this trend is actually taking money away from the needy. I don't think this will cause Activision any sleepless night mind you. ;)

I've had an email back saying that I maybe able to get a CD key reset.

I have to raise a ticket write the ticket number in permenant ink on the CD key, scan it and send it in with the login of the new Steam account it needs to be tied to..... fingers crossed.

Yes...From looking up what res 600p is , 600p is only meant to be 1024x600 resolution

Well, standard def is only 576p. Crazy.

XBOX and PS3 might of had their day then if they can`t display a new game at a decent res.

I think it's got to be lazy devs making a port that "just runs" on both consoles imo. Both consoles can display some top graphics at 1080p (not PC top graphics, but nice none the less).
