Selling on Gumtree

Hi, just need some advice please. I just sold something on gumtree for £200 and the buyer paid me via paypal and asked me to post it to him as he lives 250 miles away. Is there something I need to be wary of? I'm surprised he made the purchase without seeing the item so I got a bit suspicious like he might open a dispute and try to get his money back. I also nearly got scammed recently when I was taken to a fake gumtree page to receive the money so I'm a bit apprehensive.

I'd send the money back. You're clearly on the path to being scammed.

On gumtree I only deal with money on collection

Don't send any money back.

Have you even checked the money is there? It's probably a fake 'youve been paid' email.

Don't be a fool and be tempted to continue with the transaction.

Dont post anything yet. Check the money is there, take it then lock off contact. Scam the potential scammer before they perhaps maybe might scam you.

Gumtree is cash on delivery/pick-up only, and even then you should use a UV light. Anything else and you're asking to be scammed.

The money was already in my paypal account so I just clicked on the refund button.

Find the guy on FB or something similar check for authenticity of person maybe, get him to send you a copy of his face and id
