yo guys and gals

I've decided that I really dont need my uber computer anymore, I've moved in with the partner and were getting married soon...I just dont seem to play games really anymore. So I'm going to see if I can get enough for my PC to get a simpler laptop or something..

Question is, do I try to sell the whole system as it is or do you think I could make more by splitting it up into seperate components...

Spec is:

CASE: Antec 1200 Black
PSU: BeQuiet 850W Modular
MOBO: DFI Lan Party UTX58-T3EH8
CPU: Intel i7 920 2.66GHz
CPUFAN: Noctua NH-U12PE SE1366
RAM: Corsair Dominator DD3 (1600) 8-8-8-24 6GB (3x2gb)
GFX: XFX GeForce GTX 295 1792mb
MONITOR: LG Flatron M1910A
SND: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium PCI-E
SPK: Ceative Inspire 5.1
HDD1: Kingston SSDNow V Series 128GB 2.5" SATA-II SSD
HDD2: Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB

Think it's usually better to sell as parts if you don't mind the extra hassle. Chances of finding someone else who wants exactly the same spec as you did when you built the PC are pretty slim so selling as a full PC you're quite unlikely to get the amount you want for it.

£10 for your SSD :D. heh.

I'd try and sell as a whole to people locally, friends etc. Then if unsuccessful sell individually.

Selling the whole thing is a lot less hassle.

I would keep the SSD though. It'll make a laptop experience much more bearable.

It may be worth going for a higher end laptop with something like a ATI 5650 or nVidia GT330M, then if you still want to do a bit of gaming you've still got some decent grunt.

cheers for the replies, I have a Uni friend who is looking at possibly buying the lot. Just need to do some ebay checking to work out a total cost...I would guess around £500 for it is fair at mates rates. Nowhere near what I paid for it but meh...it'd get me a half-decent laptop

As for the SSD, I didnt see much speed inprovement when it was in the PC - I had it as just a Windows install and everything else was on the TB hdd. But then I suppose I wouldnt as apart from loading windows, everything else was running from the TB which wouldnt be as quick!

hmm, well I've just worked out what I could on eBay and guessed the rest and by undercutting the prices I saw a bit, I got up to £775 for the lot

I also wonder whether selling the MoBo, RAM and CPU as a bundle might be a good idea too, if I end up splitting it

You'll get a LOT more than £500 selling individual parts on ebay, possibly even if you sold it all as one. Depends on how much you want to give your mate.

There are other sites where you can list your items for free, Gumtree for example, some of the Audio Video forums, etc, they get a lot of traffic. Also, with good descriptions and by replying to all questions you might find that you get a bit more from the auction site.

Good luck whichever option you take.

Wow. £500? try building that PC in Overclockers then knock about 20-30% off. That's what you should sell for. £500 is nuts. A bundle on here alone of that standard is near £500.

How do you have such a great PC and get an estimate of £500?

I did look in OC and a lot of the items I have are not sold anymore...

I wasnt quoted £500 or anything, that was just my inital ball-park figure as I know 2nd-hand PCs are worth zilch generally....after working it out on the bay I got closer to £800 and as has been said, if I do it right I'm sure I could get more

Ok, well I just sold my Q6600 (bought 4 years ago) for £75. Originally cost me £160. Thats 4.5 years for a half price drop. Yours is fairly new. Your SSD alone is about £180. I'd expect abuot £1k for your PC at a good price to 'buy' for. Not sell. If you do intend to sell it for crazy cheap, i'll definitely buy your SSD for £10 ;) lol.

Thats not too far off your PC, some parts better some worse, but no SSD. Look how much it is.
