Found some premium bonds my grandfather got me when i was a baby, there's £80 worth so wanted to sell them but they're in my birth name from before my mum remarried and i deed polled my name to my step dads name.
Also i don't have my NS&I account anymore which i closed around 2013 after using all the savings in it.
Is it gonna be an absolute nightmare to get the £80 from the bonds so shall i just throw them back in a drawer?

I have some premium bonds already but found £18 worth from when I was a kid. I just contacted them via email with pdfs of all the relevant documents and they added them to my account. You could just buy £10 worth online and then get the £80 added to the account, and then close it. Nothing's easy in this life!

If he's going to invest the £80 then yes, but he may win a prize. My parents are always getting £25 cheques through the door.

How ever much they may or may not win it's almost certainly less than they would "win" in interest in any halfway sensible savings account.

Interest rates are so low at the moment that you might as well have some money in premium bonds just for the flicker of excitement when the prizes are given out every month!

This, I've gone this way as anything that I may win will possibly be more than interest I'd earn from the bank.
