Selling. Private? or with Online Retailer?

Hi Guys,
I'm looking to Sell my Canon 7d Mark1 and my Tamron 150-600mm would you recommend selling Privately, on the Bay or via on of the Online retailers, not sure If I'm allowed to post names.

Reason for sale is I just dont use the equipment, sitting around boxed up and not being used. Where do you guys sell your stuff?

Recommendations appreciated, pros and cons?

I'd try MBP first: https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/

They offer cash and free collection.

Then LCE, especially if you have one local: https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/

Then eBay/gumtree/photography forums.

Then WEX, as they only offer credit to use with them.

Always private for the best price. You'll get around 20-30% less selling to somewhere like WEX. Never eBay if you can help it. It's just a pain to use, and of course they take 10%, but you are guaranteed to get rid of it there.

From personal experience I've always sold on ebay and never had a single problem and always get good prices. For example recently sold my 20mm f1.8 on ebay for more than i bought it for, and that's after ebay have taken 10%.

A good advert and pictures go a very long way.

OP Ebay but be careful you keep details of serial number etc. I sold a camera for £200 where I was offered £70 PX with a big on-line dealer.

I have been on these forums since 2007 just not a prolific poster! but sign in everyday! Would have preferred to have sold to fellow forum member, rather than risking Joe public on the bay! oh well im nearly nearly 10% to my 1000 post lol

Taking your comments on-board I think Ill list it on the bay, both items are in mint condition. Boxes and all paperwork. So should still get a fair price for it all.

I wouldn't sell on eBay,

I recently sold a few lenses and DSLRs, I put one on gumtree, very lucky, nice guy bought a lens .

Sold the rest to a retailer that deals with mostly second hand, got a decent price and no fuss.

Mind you I have sold a lens on eBay before now, but the fees are just too high.

Some retailers are offering no more than CEX though Perhaps we ought to name and shame the bad and provide helpful lists of experiences with those that were good?
