We have just finished a virtualised server solution, and i need to recoup some funds from the now redundant HP kit.

I have 4 servers; 3 G4's and a G3, all of them are dual Xeon, decent amounts of ram, rack mounts etc. What in your opinion would be raise the most cash, break them down to component level, or sell them as complete units?

They have all been taken from a live working enviroment with no known faults, and they are all fitted with reduandant PSU's and rack rails.

Has anyone had success on the bay?

The G4's maybe worth a hundred quid or so on ebay but the G3's are pretty worthless if there 32bit only.
Keep them whole as ones with the rails and HD's command quite a decent amount over the ones without.

I think they would be about the same broken and complete becasue although you will get good prices for RAM, CPU and HDD's basically kit that is upgradable. The cases PSU's and mobo is HP only so would be quite hard to sell. Have a look on evilbay and do some calcs!

I've got a friend who is looking for a new server, so I'd certainly be interested.

PM me if you are going ahead with the sales.
