Is this a legit option? I've never bought or sold any gaming or related accounts before (with the exception of buying a single LoL account to skip the requirements to play with my mates, only to find I don't like LoL all that much :D)

I've no idea how to begin to value the account, but I guess the first hurdle is, is it even possible? Will Steam ban the account causing me headaches post sale? Has anyone else done it before? My account is clean and I've had it for many years with hundreds of games.

As per their terms an account is personal and cannot be legally sold.

You can't even give it away, or transfer it to another family member through a will if you were to pass on. (Actually they will do this I found online)

However saying all that, it doesn't slow down people selling in a grey market capacity where people take the risk of course. I cannot help in that regard just that I know that type of thing happens.

Thanks mate, seems it's not worth the risk. Good to know about the will though, sadly I'm at an age where such things do need updating often lol

I didnt realise you were not allowed to transfer ownership of your steam account. Whilst it is true that I can see how selling accounts could cause issues for valve, at the same time it still seems wrong to me that valve can essentially force you to bin £1000s of software just because you choose to move away from gaming.

mind you they have you by the coconuts any time they update their Ts and Cs i suppose and ask you to ok them. you can always say no......... and lose your account.

it all seems very anti consumer to me.

It is, but ultimately we're all only buying the rights to play the game, not own it like the old days. I'm just going to keep the account, hand it down when it's time :D
