I know you cant do this on classfieds on ocuk, but is it illegal ?

I have mine which has around £200 of games, 2 of which i havent even played (arma2)! Ive given up pc gaming but it seems a waste to have paid for games and then just delete the steam account ?

I know i can sell it on ebay, but is it legal ? Ie, could I be sued ?

Thanks

It's all in the terms you agreed to, probably worth reading them at some point ;)

So in essence you pay for the right to play it, and not for actual game content ?

Pretty much yes, much like most software you have installed on your PC, if you read the terms you click 'Agree' to you'll find you're only purchasing a license to use.

i have no idea why they wont let you sell it, steam being steam i suppose. all i know it's in the steam eula and they forbit it..

nothing stopping you from physically doing it though. (physically as in "u want steamz?" "Yes, I'll give you £200 of my English Pounds for your Username and Password for the games you posses on that account, meet you at the services on the M1" "kk" etc.)

Been that way for most software for a LONG time. Steam is just a rather graphic example.

It is not illegal for you to sell your account, however as stated it does break Steam's EULA, which if Valve found out that you had sold the account, would allow them to ban the account without any comeback.

Problem with that is if the person selling the account verified it. You sell the account, get the money, move it out of paypal and unlink everything, reset the password and you have the account back and the money. I personally wouldn't buy a steam account off someone I didn't know because of this, though you may find buyers.

Eh?

Why do you think publishers frown upon the second hand market and now using things like online passes? Its the same thing as re-selling your Steam acoount - they dont get a cut...
