Selling WoW account?

they are soon making it legal to transfer characters to different acounts, its all about buisness.

they will make a absolute bomb bringing that in.

Its been possible for a long time to transfer characters to other accounts.

Only to accounts you own and those accounts have to have the same surname as each other. I have just been looking into transfering my old character over to my gf's account and its not as straight forward as it sounds.

yes lol, but only to your own 2 acounts, have to have the same last name on each acount and address.

they are bringing it in so you can transfer to a totaly different acount

I wonder if blizzard will make any money from that though. For buyers to stop theiving sellers from trying to retake the character, what a lot of buyers do is buy the game, make an account in the sellers name and have the character moved over. Makes the buyer safe.

With this change, theres no need for people to buy new copies of the game each time they buy a character, they just need to have a single account, and can trades to/from it without ever needing to buy a new copy of wow.

Way to go admitting on a forum that you stole £700 you should be permabanned.

+1 , you completely screwed a desperate guy who was nice enough to give you £700. Anyway I do not like the mentality of many MMo players, little greedy idiots for their virtual gear and treasure chest. get a life

seriously leave this forum and never come back, can't believe your lack of morals Rostam.

Wouldn't say 'desperate' was quite the word :p

These are people with lots of disposable income - a lot of oil money has changed hands in the buying and selling of accounts. Not that this in any way justifies stealing accounts back, but the whole business is so shady with scamming going on everywhere it's kinda par for the course.

The level of greed apparent in this thread is hilarious.

You guys won't discuss beta info because of the NDA (how NOBLE of you all), but it's fine to break the EULA when you get a mountain bike out of it.

Your reasons? "Blizzard pointed a gun to me head and made me play the game, so its like they.. uh.. umm.. owe me. Yeah, thats it, they owe me. I never once felt I was getting value for money out of that outrageous EIGHT QUID A MONTH they screwed me out of"

Oh, the humanity.

As for the outrage at the guy who ripped someone off with £700? His actions are condoned when the majority here thinks breaking the EULA is fine and dandy. So deal with it.

Ive got to say Rostam your actions were pathetic, and your defence of being addicted is nowhere near a decent excuse, it just sounds so weak willed and again pathetic. We all do stupid things but im sure most of us havent ripped someone off for the best part of a grand because we couldnt go without the object we'd sold.

And id hardly say his actions are condoned, breaking the EULA is one thing but going out of your way to screw someone over is a whole different kettle of fish.

He went out of his way to screw someone over, but the EULA breakers are no different to him.

When someone buys an account, it's simply to bypass months, potentially even years of content that Blizzard ought to be getting paid for. All that levelling, all those epics, takes time to get. When you sell your account, you are doing your bit to ensure Blizzard are deprived of subscription revenue that is fairly theirs.

To the people calling for that guy to be permabanned, or banned from the MM: put your money where your mouths are. Insist all EULA breakers qualify for exactly the same status. They are, after all, ripping people off too.

Or do you think that those developers who design the content in WoW deserve to be ripped off? You think their efforts aren't worth rewarding?

What a total sham of a thread. I don't know which is worse, the greed or the level of hypocrisy.

It got awfully quiet in this thread all of a sudden.

Software piracy = depriving game developers of revenue that's rightfully theirs
Selling your account = depriving game developers of revenue that's rightfully theirs

But wait! Remember snowdog's advice! "SOD THE EULA".

So it's OK to do.

Right?

Selling your account = depriving game developers of revenue that's rightfully theirs
If individuals didn't buy and sell accounts no revenue would be generated because the developers will not do it, so how is it depriving them of revenue that's rightfully theirs?

It may deprive them of a box sale, but that's a relatively small proportion of their revenue compared to subscriptions. In any case many accounts sold are newly purchased with high level characters transferred to them, characters which are often transferred to different servers, so Blizzard will earn off it in different ways.

No, buying and selling accounts is wrong because it devalues content and experience the buyer chooses to skip, it devalues the efforts other players put into leveling and gearing up their characters, and it exposes buyers and sellers to a secondary market rife with scammers.
