Hi,

I am after a semi-passive PSU for a Bitfenix Prodigy. I believe this has a max PSU length of 160cm.

I will be running a H61 setup with a G3258 and no external graphics card. I will be running 4 or so HDD/SDDs. This will be used as a media server so on all the time will infrequent loads when transcoding etc so need one that will be most efficient for this scenario.

Hope someone can help, I am going mad looking through all the options. If there are no passive ones can anyone recommend a good, very quiet one.

Thanks!

Too big Stulid. That's 170mm long and he only has 160mm to play with.

Seasonic does a 460w fanless unit that's 160mm long but it's expensive at £105.

The EVGA Supernova GS550w is compact at 150mm long, Gold rated, fully modular and has a 5 year warranty. It's a Seasonic built unit and has hybrid fan control. It's out of stock on here at the moment until mid-November. Even that is overkill though as 300w would be more than enough for your needs. The problem is that OCUK doesn't sell any high quality low capacity psu's and we are not allowed to suggest other places that do.

Thanks for the suggestions. Already have the MB and CPU; been collecting bits and pieces over time.

I don't think a full passive will work in the prodigy as the PSU bay is sealed off. I will take a look at the evgas, thanks.

You say you have a H61 board?

Thats socket 1155 right?

Yet the G3258 is socket 1150.

?

Also the Prodigy M will take ITX as well as MATX, its the Prodigy ITX that cant take anything else.
