Hi ,

I have just got hold of this chip and a dfi NF3 250 GB mobo to have a play with overclocking it.

Using 1 gb geil value ram.

I have read that putting memory in banks 1+3 improves thinngs and that disabling sata ports 1+2 and using ports 3+4 improves things also.

I am currently at 2ghz (400mhz overclock) 250x 8 and have bumped the voltage up to 1.450 in the bios.

Ideally I would like 2.4ghz but I will have to see how far I get.

Whats a safe vcore for these single core chips?
Also whats an ok temp for these chips?

I am 39c full load during prime and have nothing to go on really some quick simple facts would be good.

And if anyone else out there has one of these and is overclocking let me know how far you got.

cheers :)

Yes use SATA 3/4 as I am sure 1/2 get overclocked with the cpu; I used 3.
Never noticed any difference which slots I used for the RAM.
I have a 2800 which went to 2.5ghz @ stock 1.37v (312x8) with no probs.
At this I could not get temps above 39C in prime.

Would like to know how far the cpu will go but the limit on my DFI is 315.

NB using TCCD RAM at 1T I got super-pi 1M to 35.8s.

Yep on the disabling of SATA1&2. I have a 2600 & 2800. The 2800 runs on a DFI NF3 with 1.57v @2600Mhz and 34/45 degree temps rock steady. I'm actually pretty happy with it too.

My 2600 runs at 2400Mhz on an Asus mobo that only goes upto 300htt and only offers stock volts. So I'm sure you should be able to get upto 2400.
I found on my DFI and MSI boards that leaving the htt multi set to auto gives much better result than setting it explicetly.

Good luck :)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm currently testing and I am at 2.320 ghz 8x 290 @ 1.525v

I love this its a 45% overclock on a cheap as chips 64 bit cpu :D

Using the stock cooler my temps are 44c full load. Is this ok?

I have also read that stability over 300 FSB is easier to achieve with 1 stick of ram.

As I am using two I'll have to see how true that is.

Overall though, I think this chip rocks and for what I paid for it MEGA value for money!

Cheers

You should really be getting that kinda overclock at default volts... 1.5v+ is overkill. I would also say that 1.55v is the max you should go on air. 300x8 with perhaps a small increase in LDT voltage should do the trick. The cpu volts might need a very small boost due to the high HTT. Try like 1.45v.

With less enabled L2 cache, 90nm die, etc these chips run cool. I think the max temp is like 79c (or 69c) so your temps are like, cool.
