sending a Fax via PC

hello

Is there a way to send faxes from my pc free of charge using some software ?...if so how do i go about doing it please...i have Windows 7 and i have an Ethernet Fibre Optic Connection ..although i dont have a printer connected

You have to have a fax modem in your PC for that don't you? I'm surprised it's not completely possible via software these days.

Yeah my wife often sends faxes thats why I was asking

You have to have a Modem somewhere in the chain, be it in your PC or upstream on the network.

Fax is purely analogue.
