I'm currently on halls internet which has quite a hefty upload speed and with nobody in halls atm I thought I might be able to transfer some large files, but It says in my internet guide the network doesn't allow incoming connections so I was wondering if there was a program that would allow me to let people remotely transfer a file from my pc?

I guess I'm thinking along the lines of a private torrent but I don't have first idea how to set one up.

does anyone have any ideas?

File Transfer Protocol is an obvious one. Have your friend set up an FTP server and try that.

Forget about torrents.

Edit: Last time I set up an FTP server I used this, no idea if there are better alternatives.

I sent 780mb over MSN Messenger yesterday :D

Yes I was prepared for it to fail spectacularly, but it went pretty quickly and worked, which was surprising.

Filezilla is my FTP server of choice, SSL option also makes it a bit more secure aswell if you're sharing live folders rather than a dedicated FTP directory.
