I need to send a knife off to someone, but I'm unsure which service to use. Does anyone know which companies are best for sending things like this? I'm reluctant to use RM because of a previous bad experience. As far as I'm aware, the knife isn't illegal in this country; SOG desert dagger like the one used in Kill Bill. However, considering its value and the fact that it's obviously a weapon, I don't want to even remotely chance having it seized. Options, opinions welcomed. Cheers:)

Your safest bet is to conceal it in your rear orifice before waddling on to the recipient.

If you want a job done right, do it yourself.

as a sensible answer, i'm not sure of the chances of RM stuff going randomly through a metal detector but you'd probably be better off using a trusted courier [ie, not Yodel, lol] instead. as long as you securely pack the blade so that it's properly protected and has no chance of coming out the scabbard etc i'd say you'll be ok. i've had blades come in from abroad, not marked as weapons and been properly paid for and value declared etc so no one's had reason to pry.

Take it in person....unless its 1000's of miles away obviously.

80 miles, so not too far. However I'd rather post it. I think* it was UPS who delivered it to me originally, however that was years ago so things might have changed.

I would just wrap it in a bit of cardboard and then put it in a box? normally when you send stuff from the post office they will ask what it is worst case you will get arrested for carrying a deadly weapon so that the police can meet their targets. I don't think the courts care about context anymore either (re: Count Dankula) so probably convicted as well. Good luck.

I’ve sent two buck knives through the post, regular Royal Mail special delivery - no problems at all. I’m pretty sure it’s perfectly fine to send a knife in the post.

We just stick the blade between two bits of cardboard (and tape in place), bubble wrap, stick in another box, send.

All I can imagine is a stressed delivery driver deciding to take a seat on a box to have a quick fag break, the box crushes and.....

Eh? How does Amazon post out knives?

Put it in a box and post it recorded and insured.
Amazon will not post knifes to me …:(

is it really illegal to own a knife like that in the UK ? i mean i can understand carrying it around on you in person. But in your own home as a collector ?? Can't exactly shoot the place up with a knife. Not as if a regular kitchen knife can't do the same damage, if you did decide to lose your mind and go out on a rampage.
