Sending an engine by courier?

I cannot speak for the others but at TNT we have had a bit of an upheaval when it comes to palletised metal because it's causing so much damage. People are bunging engines full of oil onto any old pallet and sending it on it's way with just a bit of strapping to hold it in place. The damage stuff like this causes to both trucks and other freight is shocking.

To send it with TNT it needs to be crated (not just palletised) and the price on new customer rates (we don't do "cash jobs") will be £631.29 approx + VAT.

Just to save you one phone call anyway :D

Christ!!! I know businesspost do Adhoc work for customers who pay upfront. When I use the phrase "cash jobs" I don't mean bunging the depot manager a few quid to shove it on the lorry I just mean that the customer is paying for it upfront as a oneoff job rather than it going on account. I know DHL also do this although I would personally not suggest using them.. I still agree that the most simple way is to send it with a man with a van or do it youself/get a friend to do it. Glad to hear TNT are taking a responsible approach however Lopez. The trouble I often found when using TNT in the past was whilst larger stuff arrived fine if packaged properly the smaller packages often arrived damaged. It often appeared that these had been damaged by excessivly heavy weights crushing them despite the items being packed well. Anyway I'm going off topic, sorry!!!

Hehe, as you can see from our new customer rates, we don't really wan't one off shippers because they are more hassle than they are worth usually!

By FAR the best way would be to drive it. You could fit that engine in a normal car. Take a day off work.

What's wrong with going at the weekend?

he needs the engine by wednesday, and i was working this weekend.....

Ive managed to blag tomorrow morning off so ill see if i can get a van, petrol in my car would be insane but in a diesel van itll cost next to nothing.

Tom.
