I want to send an HTML email out to a few people but I also want to include a link if their email client doesn't handle HTML. In the past I've seen emails that tell me HTML can't be viewed by my email client, web-based email clients for example, and they provide a link to a web page instead. I've read some interesting information about "multipart/alternative" but I can't work out whether this is something that needs to be provided by a specialist email marketing program. Can anyone give an example of how this can be done?

Thanks :)

Unfortunately I cannot provide any in-depth info on multipart mime but I know the email marketing package we use supports it. There is an online demo of the software here . The demo will allow you to send an a multipart mime email and it'll even provide campaign tracking for you, although this may not be exactly what you're after hopefully its a step in the right direction...
