Hey guys,

Quick question - if one was to be sending individual components in the post, RAM, or CPUs for example, is it safe to be sending it simply wrapped in bubblewrap, or are you taking a risk without anti-static precautions?

How valuable are the parts? It should be ok but you've got to weigh up the value of the parts compared to the effort of popping into your local PC shop and just asking for a few spare anti-static bags.

I'd suggest there is probably more of a risk they'll get snapped/bent in the bubble wrap than from any likelihood of static damage but it is still a possibility I suppose.

I definitely wouldn't send ram in a bubble wrap envelope unless you have a hard outer such as cardboard wrapped around it first.
Pretty sure there's no static problems though to be safe always try use an inner and outer so a cpu inside a small box inside the envelope.

Some of these components are quite old, don't think I'd have enough storage space in my house if I kept boxes for this long...

But yeah, they're not particularily valuable. I'll probably have a look and see if I can get my hands on some antistatic bags.

Normally, antic static bag. Then a box that is roughly twice the size as the item and then place foam around it and if needed bubble wrap.
Does the job, no complaints so far.

I have used old DVD cases for ram before, and then bubble wrap. I think anti static is over rated. Ok I'm not going to build a PC in a wooly jumper but I think stuff is made pretty stuff these days
