Sennheiser CX 300 "Ear-Canal" Earphones

They look pretty good.
My MX500s are half broken & i could do with some new earbuds. They loo ideal.

Cant find any info on it, but does anyone know these:
Wire length?
If one earbud wire is longer than the other?

Thanks in advance.

:)

From Sennheiser website-

Cable Length:Asymmetrical, L: 170 mm; R: 510 mm, (850 mm divider to plug)

http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/500830#

(click technical data)

I'm taking this to mean 850 mm from where the cable splits to the plug, then 510 mm from where cable splits to R phone and 170 mm to L phone. So from L to MP3 player would be 102 cm (just over a metre) and there's an extra 34 cm to go behind your head to R. And the cable split would fall 17 cm below your left ear.

Longer than the bizarrely short MX500 cable then.

Well I give them seven thumbs up (out of eight). So that's very good.

I've never actually owned any ear canal earphones before, so I'm maybe not the best person to say how good they are comparatively, but compared to regular earphones - and to my £40 sennheiser hd212 pro headphones - they sound incredibly clear, with punchy bass and decent "sound-blockage" (not sure about the technical term there).

Im very pleased with the purchase.

Why is the right wire much longer than the left? Is there any advantage to this or is it worse than having same length wires on both side?

Ive only ever had symmetrical earphones so would someone like to explain this wire length thing to me please :)

Short wire to one ear. Long wire, wrap round back of head, to other ear.
Its designed so it doesnt look as 'clumsy' as the normal type of headphones.
:)

do they need some burning in time? - i just got mine and they are a bit tinny with not much bass.

maybe i just need to get used to them

i've put the bigger adapters on and now they are a lot better - i guess the middle ones were not making a proper seal - i guess i have big ears!

i got a pair to replace my sonys ex71, must say they soooo much better than them, good earphones for the money

Got myself some of these to replace/supplement MX550's.

Sound quality is excellent - but only if you get the fit right- been switching between small and medium buds and never full confident i'm getting the best out of them - can feel quite tinny if not exactly right.

Also my 128kbps mp3's now sound pretty poor - espically vrs things in 192kbps - gonna be one big task to re-rip things at higher quality!

Whats the difference between the Sony EX71 and EX71SL? , i have some and they have pretty decent bass, anyone got the EX71sl to compare to the CX300?.
