Ive never been ipressed with my MX500s, they seem very lacking in bass, but today the wire started becoming bare so im after a new set of headphones and the CX300s read very good, but are they bassey? The MX500s were supposed to be good on bass, but they were worse than my old Sonys.

£35 absolute tops, as its just something for kicking round uni.

They're meant to be the same as the creative ep-630's which I have. If they are, they're very good headphones, hell they look identical too. The only drawback is the slightly rubbery wire which likes to rub up against shirts, and the insane amount of microphonics - feedback up the wire as it rubs up against your clothes.

I've been using my ep-630's for quite sometime now while I gathered the courage to buy some nice shures.

I've got the CX300's and I think they're great. They've got loads of bass, but make sure you put in the right size earbuds for your ears or you'll lose a good bit of it. I've heard a lot of people complaining about the noise from walking and rubbing against clothes but to be honest I don't notice it once I've got some music playing.

I found the noise from the wire annoying, also your footsteps and your breathing get amplified too. I'm not desperately convinced about the sound quality either, the bass is a little distorted and boomy and the top end is a bit flat. They can also sound a bit 'mechanical' to me at times. They're not awful though, they're much better than something like MX500 or Sony EX71s. I get far more pleasure from listenning to my Porta Pros though, but that's not necessarily a relevant comparison since they aren't earphones.
