Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy some more headphones and am looking at the CX400's. However, it looks to me that the mk2 version has an in line volume control and the mk1 does not. Can anyone confirm this for me?

The reason i ask is that there are some CX400's for sale at a competitor for a ridiculously low price (£12.99) but i'm not sure if it's mk1 or mk2. I would ideally want some with an in line volume control so i can use it with my ipod's LOD as you can't control the volume through that.

Cheers guys!

I'm using this adapter (it has a 3.5mm jack on the bottom):

Then i plug the earphones straight into that. I could tell a massive difference quite easily. Wasn't expecting such a change.

Cheers for the input PaulyD, that's what i thought. I'm still not sure whether the mk1's have the in line volume control though.

I've now started looking at the Sennheiser CX500's as there won't be a gamble as to whether it's got the volume control or not as there's only one revision. Damn late night shopping making me spend more money!

I already have the CX300's. The problem is that to use the adapter pictured above i will need some earphones with an in line volume control.

The mk2 CX400's and CX500's are the only decent, reasonably priced earphones i know of that have this. Out of interest, why do you think the CX500's are worse?

I have the CX500 and don't find them bad at all, a very nice sound and comfortable buds...

^ agreed. I find the 300's too bassy for my liking
That's how i'm starting to feel about my CX300's. At first i thought they were immense as they were the best sounding earphones i had heard. But having become used to the sound of my Beyer DT770's i feel i need an upgrade.

I think i'll just get the CX500's then. Just need to wait for the funds to come through!
