I was in the market for a new gaming headset as my Sennheiser PC135's (or something similar) were screwed.

I was eyeing up the PC350's but was a little put off by talk of poor bass etc. Despite this I had my heart set on them because of the mic. However, I spend a lot of time on my PC listening to music and doing other things, so I wanted decent sound.

I read a lot of posts on here who suggested the 555's with an elara clip on mics. I have tested the mic out now I have it and for £4 it is pretty good, although in comparisons having it on my monitor it does let some background noise in and I sound a little distant. Any way to make this any better?

Anyway, the 555's are BLOODY INCREDIBLE!!! I have spent most of tonight just listening to music because they sound so good. I can't wait to try them out in some games now (my PC is broken now....bloody typical hey?). Evem music on Spotify (streamed music, surely pretty low quality) sounds really good.

They look awesome, they ooze quality, and they just sound fantastic. No point to this thread really, just very pleased with my purchase :)

EDIT: Also, I can plug them straight into my Onkyo amp for use with my TV setup for late night gaming/films :)

Glad you're pleased with them. I think a lot of people have a similar sort of experience when first listening to a set of Hi-Fi headphones after a world full of apple earbuds and pc headsets.

Welcome to the club :D

If you want to listen to music with PC, i suggest use foobar rather than wmp, itunes, etc as the sound much better and clear :)

well i love my ultrasones but the 595s were on my list ,would be interested to hear the 555s ,the only thing that put me off senns was a lack of bass reported by some is this true? i wouldnt know

In the PC350s, yeh, they have awful bass (although there's a mod that can be done apparently)

The HD555s don't suffer from the same problem.

How does this work? I'm genuinely curious, because as far as I can tell, the soundcard/DAC does all the important stuff. Unless foobar applies some sort of processing or effects...

I had the same feeling when i first used my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's. Coming from some Speedlink Medusa's...they were slightly better. :D

As far as i know there's no sound processing from foobar unlike wmp, itunes, etc.

Just give it a try and you'll notice the difference :D

I was gonna go for HD 595 and after read lots of reviews, etc, i went for HD 555 as most of of the said you can't hear the difference between HD 555 and HD 595 :)

Foobar2000 doesn't do any processing unless you tell it to. All sorts of plugins are available for Foobar2000 that alter the sound if you want them to.

It's less of an improvement over Media Player etc than in XP, as Vista doesn't do so much weird resampling etc but it's still a very user-friendly, efficient player.
