sennheiser outlet silly prices

I think the Sennheiser deal has been the deal of the year so far for me utterly love my rs220 played cs for a hour now and they are so comfy and sound amazing.

And so loud that i can't even have it over 50%.

One happy Customer as long as they don't go wrong which they shouldn't do as my wireless is already on a different channel as the one it's suppose to mess up on.

Yeah that's my only worry with it. If it is I'll probably just get an Aune T1 MK2 from massdrop and wait it out.

why bother? you will be stung by customs for sure

Got my hd700s not had chance to listen to them yet but build quality seems very nice seem much more soild compared to the plasticy hd595s.

their average price on amazon was £600 up until recently I would expect them to have much better build quality than a HD595 when compared with it's newer version HD598 (£146) the price difference is HUGE. If it wasn't I would be wondering where that extra £400+ had went.

I will probably have a small review of these up at the weekend. Possibly even tomorrow.

My thoughs on the hd700s so far are in one word "clearer" it feels like a veil has been lifted, vocals and instruments sound more effortless, the soundstage is indeed bigger 180 degrees compared to 90 on the hd595s. The highs dont sound as shrill as on the 595s they actually sound more controlled with a nice rolloff. Base is just deep enough and snappy without being too overblown, dance and r&b fans may be dissapointed they dont go lower in this regard.
As far as power requirements go my dac magic plus can power these until my ears bleed, my ipad 2 can just about manage with one notch to go.
Overall iam very happy with the hd700s they basically improve on the hd595s in every department build quality, sound, and comfort. At the £200 i payed they are a very nice upgrade but at the £460 they are currently retailing for i would have kept the hd595s.
So all in all very happy, so excuse me while i go back to my music. :)

Currently driving my HD700 with my STX. While they sound decent enough, but I get the feeling that I am not bringing out the best of what the HD700 is capable of. So I guess I would need to look at separate headphone amp?

Some tube amps can tame the treble if you find it harsh.

I've just bought the O2/ODAC, if it's no good I'll probably return it for a Schiit Modi2/Vali combo.

Yea I did read around a bit, and it seem that the HD700 is quite picky when it comes to amps, and quite a lot of good headphone amps would still make it on the bright side.

The issue is most of the tube amps that are recommended over on headfi you can only really get from the USA.

I'm not sure I want to make mine warmer though, if I wanted that I'd rather just buy different headphones.

a tube amp won't change the sound that dramatically it's subtle changes.

it won't make them bass monsters but it will tweak them some what.

i have a birthday party to go to today and i need to shave have a haircut, etc. so i won't bother testing mine today. possibly sunday.

the aune t1 is well worth looking into for a very very good cheap setup or the schiit range preferably the vali amp with one of their more expensive DAC's.

i think there are issues with the cheapest schiit DAC's. i'd go for one level up from cheapest (modi).

They fixed the issue with the 2nd versions they brought out.

On the O2/ODAC is the gain button at 5x with the button pressed in or 1x?

BF3 and BF4 ain't exactly the best games for evaluating the performance of the headphone, as I recall people were saying the audio for this game are kinda crappy or something?

With war tapes on the 700s will make your ears bleed :S and yeah BF3/4 sound system isn't the best.

If you want (heavy) bass out of them you need an amp thats stable with OPA2228P gain stage and AD8066 buffer :D though that combination has a bit aggressive treble which might not play nice with the 700s - it will completely transform the low range though. (Need either a high quality input stage or atleast 0.47uf polypropylene film caps on the dc filter).

Happy with the O2/ODAC so far. I'm far from experienced in this area though so probably don't know what to listen for.

It should work fine - the output is especially designed for 150 ohm headphones so should match up with the 700s - you might find the NJM2068 in the gain stage sounds a bit bright with the 700s - I assume its socketed so if you felt like it could swap it out for something with a less bright signature (the O2 is a very deliberate design however so you can't just swap out the op amps for anything at random and necessarily get good results).

EDIT: Assuming Epiphany didn't use 4556s in both gain and buffer.

in my odac it's u1 is 2068D JRC E002B
U2 is LM24903N

and U3 is 4566 u4 is 4566

how ever it is not socketed but it would be easy enough to swap :)
