Hi to all.

Im thinking of buying a pair of the above but I have a question.

Firstly I'm currently using a Microsoft Sidewinder Game voice but I dont really like the h/phones (that why I want a change) & X-Fire communication software.

All work excellently.

Will I be able to just remove my headphones from the Sidewinder Voice unit & plug the Sennheiser's in or do I have to plug straight in to the sound card of my PC.
The reason for asking is I like the option with the "Voice" unit to have the sound through either the phones or the desk top speakers I have at the flick of a switch.

Thanks in advance

I use a set of PC160's and when they come in the package there is a USB device which plugs into a USB slot which has 2 3.5mm audio jack sockets. One coloured green for output to headphones one coloured pink for input from mic.

As shown below:

When you plug the USB device in it is recognised as Sennheiser USB headset and takes over audio from speakers and/or other devices and makes the headphones the primary input/output device. This can be selected manually via the Windows control panel -> sounds and audio devices. Or you can plug the headphones into the sound card around the back of your PC.

From the image shown below it would appear the Sidewinder Gamevoice unit uses a similar method to connect to PC, so i would assume that yes the headset and mic should be compatible by simply unplugging the existing headset and mic 3.5mm jack and plugging the new in its place.

I only have one gripe about the PC160's:

The inline volume control thumbwheel is extremely easy to knock with your arm or hand as you are moving around and can be turned up or down accidentaly. Which can result in earsplitting almost deafening sound or loss of sound in games where sound is relied upon etc.

Other than that, great headset with beautiful clear sound quality in Video, Music and Games.

So to clarify, i believe it will be compatible. But then again ive never used or seen a Microsoft Sidewinder Gamevoice in the flesh. So i cant say for sure 100%

If you decide to go for it without further clarification, good luck. They are still a great headset by my standards.

Agree, my PC160 is a gorgeous comfortable and high quality piece of kit. However, i did drop it last week (after over a year of dropping it every day) and the mic is broken :<

Looking at getting a Zalman actually, just because it looks fun :)
