Sennheiser soundbar being flaky

Per other threads, I treated myself to a Sennheiser Ambeo Mini soundbar and subwoofer last month, to go with my Panasonic LZ980. Although it sounds absolutely great, I'm getting a little frustrated with it being quite flaky - for want of a better word. It's plugged in via eARC and I run mainly a SkyQ box for TV, and AppleTV 4k for streaming apps.
I believe I've switched on all of the appropriate power/CEC settings across all devices, and most of the time it works ok and as expected. E.g. turn on SkyQ box, and the soundbar and TV turns on. Same with the ATV. If I switch from one to another, the input switches and it's fine. Both remotes control the soundbar ok.

But occasionally, well more than occasionally, the soundbar just doesn't turn on. Sometimes cycling the soundbar inputs (via the app) make it come to life, but quite a few times this doesn't work and I either have to reboot the soundbar through the app, or a couple of times now I've had to pull the power from the soundbar and give it a hard reboot.

Also, sometimes the subwoofer doesn't switch on. Yesterday we'd watched half a program before I realised it hadn't powered on. And sometimes the remotes revert to controlling the TV volume instead of the soundbar.

Is this just what having a soundbar setup is like? I moved away from stereo speakers and an AV amp/Harmony remote to make things more simple.. but I'm already losing the goodwill of my other half as things are just not working correctly! (She didnt like the Harmony remote)

What can I try to resolve all of these flaky issues?

Not sure where to start resolving issues but it's absolutely not 'just what having a soundbar setup is like' - it's generally a completely seamless experience, the soundbar turns on and off with the TV, works via the TV remote for volume change etc. I have generally paired manufacturers though - I had a Sony TV with a Sony HT-XT3, then moved to an LG C9 and LG SN8YG soundbar. In theory that shouldn't make a difference but maybe it does.

I've only ever had issues if something has happened like the dog standing on the remote and changing inputs etc.

edit - some brief searches on Google throw up some comments on reddit etc. that the Sennheiser has a little bit of a reputation for being finicky, particularly on some of the more recent firmwares and that failure to wake up is encountered by a few people with various setups.
