Hi Guys.

I bought myself a pair of entry level Sennheiser 201 Headphones a few months back and I am that blown away by the quality of these puppies, i'm looking to get a better pair of them.

I use them on my pc through an Audigy ZS Platinum and if the more expensive ones are any better than the ones I have then bring on the bacon.

Does anyone have any Sennheiser's they use for listening to mp3's and if so I would really like to know what recommendations you have :D

Many Thanks

HD580 + decent headphone amp = best value Sennheiser setup in my opinion. HD580's should set you back no more than £80, usually less, and a cheap headphone amp that comes to mind is a Mini^3 which is about £60.

If that's too expensive, HD595's (£70-80) would be better unamped.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650s and a Graham Slee Headphone amp. I use an optical connection between my PC soundcard and a Denon AV amplifier. My headphones sound terrific and they're very comfortable. However, I doubt that you will wan't to spend as much on your sound system and headphones as I have.

There's much more to choosing headphones than following simple recommendations. Have you browsed the forums on headfi.org?

I've just bought a pair of 580's and built a Grado RA-1 clone. Literally finished the amp yesterday. The amp beats the pants off a standard socket on a mini system, and the 580's do the same with respect to my AKG K141's which are by no means bad cans.

My 580's set me back £55, the amp cost about £40 to build including rechargable batteries and charger.

I'd stick with the 201's have some myself you have to spend silly money to get a big noticeable difference.
