I am looking to upgrade from my standard Ipod earphones and I like the look of these Sennheisers. But I don't want to break the bank just yet. So I have been looking around for these, but there are too many models to choose from.

I need advice on which is the best all around set to choose, and for the cheapest price ;)

CX200
CX300
CX300 II
CX350 II
CX380 II
CX400
CX400 II
CX500
CX500 II

Far too many models. lol

On the whole I thought the 300-IIs were superior to the 400-IIs, the 400-IIs seemed too heavy on the bass and a bit lacking in top end response.

However there are some places doing the 500s for around £18 or so. If they've still got any in stock then it's a stonking deal as they're much better than either the 300-IIs or the 400-IIs.

You mention 500-IIs, when I was looking recently there was no such thing but it's possible they've been released in the last few weeks which would explain why the 500s are being sold off cheaply.

No your right, its a typo on my part, as it should have been 550 II. Which I have been looking at really closely, but don't know if they are worth the £50, as the other models are much cheaper, but is that at a cost over quality???

Just make sure you buy from somewhere reputable. I bought my first set of 300-IIs from eBay and they turned out to be fakes.

I have a pair of 300's already, is it worth upgrading to the 500s? mine are perfectly fine but i can always upgrade if its worth it. Cheers

One of the big things I noticed between the 300-IIs and the 500s is that the 500s suffer a lot less from microphonics than the 300-IIs do, and I understand the 300-IIs are better than the 300s in that trait.

For £15 or so, the 500s are a great improvement over the 300s.

Whatever you do, buy from a trusted retailer as these models are more often than not counterfeit.

Yes this is so true. I first bought the CX500's of the bay and then read an article about the fake headphones. Luckily I hadn't opened the ones from the bay. The packaging looked of poor quality and so I ordered a pair from another reputable offshore company and compared them.

It was obvious the ones from the bay were fake. I managed to get a refund (no questions asked) saying they looked poor quality (so I guess they guy selling them didn’t want negative feedback from me saying they were fake).

Mine are turning up today, so will find out weather thy are the good ones, or fake.

Mine have fianlly turned up, but there are different from the ones I ordered, they have CX 500 G4ME written across the bottom. Are these the crappier version to what I ordered???
