Sensible Soccer 06

I personally think its rubbish the original is much better..

No career option is ridiculous as this was my favourite bit and the magnetic keeper is just ridiculous.

The ball sticks to your feet and every time you try and run past a defender he knocks you and himself over resulting in some frustrating stuff... the passing is just rubbish and the only real way to pass is using the shoot button to hoof it up to the attack.. heading is also a no go..

The big heads... I mean why? It's like a very bad console game the only thing thats okay about it is that its at least a little quick.. its obviously an attempt at a quick cash in on a good name at the World Cup but its very poor...

Theres also no original team or player names in there - again this was a massive attraction in the original SWoS and no doubt people will change it and offer it for download but it should be there..

Eek forgot to mention theres no net play available - if you want two players then you have to use the same PC... sigh...

The original SWOS didnt have official names.

I'm pretty sure it did - will post a screenshot later to prove (one way or the other) I have the original PC version so will have to install a nice DOS partition somewhere - lol

i've always known sensi to have official names?

whats this no career mode thing people talk of? like in SWOS?

can you still pick a team, take them from nowhere all the way up to the premiership?

I'm 99% sure SWoS had all the names in there anyway Sensi 06 does not have the names in there.

As to your question, no you can't take a team through the divisions or transfer or anything of the sort.

That was my favourite part of SWoS starting with a no hopper side and then working my way up to become the national manager..

I'm sorry I've tried it again and again in a hope I can find something I like but I can't it's a bug-ridden pile of junk in it's current form...

Forgot to mention how bad the controls are... firstly the sprint option why bother with it - this aint Sensi Soccer but some sad console game... anyway when the ball is in the air even though you have a guy selected you cant move him and on many occassions he runs after the ball rather than where you want him to run the only thing you can control then is the sliding tackle...

Headers are poor you can only head in the direction you're facing..

Most of the time when the ball is in the opponents box you just end up hitting the shoot / sliding tackle button and hoping that it rebounds / tackles it into the net...

Oh and one last thing the replays - you cant turn them off and same with viewing subs coming onto the pitch - its annoying there will probably be a way somehow by editing an ini file but it should be an option...

well i got the game yesterday and think it is a good game itself.

But i was gutted when i found there is no career mode (like the one in SWOS)
i thought that was the best bit about SWOS.

Had a tournament on the Xbox version last night after the pub!

So much fun!

Generally takes people about 1 game to get to a 'competitive' level but after that all the matches were awesome.

Pwns the hell out of PES5/Fifa multiplayer. :D

big thread revival here, but i'm thinking about shelling out for this again.

what english leagues are in it besides the premeirship? (despite it being renamed)
does it have championship, league one, two and conference like SWOS etc... used to have?

if i can have a blast with Swansea City then i'll be pleased :p

No Swans :(

It's a fun game that myself and my flatmate are still playing but boy, is it rough around the edges.

Worth a tenner, though, if it's available at that price.

And of course the more it sells, the more likely it is that a new and polished SWOS-beater will be produced, which can't be a bad thing.

[EDIT: There are two 'leagues' for the English teams - "Top" and "Others" [Burnley, Crewe, Stoke, Plymouth, Luton, etc.]]

It's got the Premiership and Championship for English leagues.

If you do get it, grab the edited view and database files from the Official Codemasters forums so you can have all the real names and a more old school type view.

Still play this when a few mates come round, good stuff. :)

Disappointing, this game lacks polish and seems to have been rushed out the door for that all-important World Cup release. My primary gripes are as follows:

-Strange goalie physics with the ball teleporting into them when a save animation is activated.
-Lack of difficulty settings. I won the WC the first time I played the game.
-Dodgy squads
-Cumbersome, console-style team selection screens
-Unless I'm missing something, there is no way of saving your chosen formation/team so you have to keep repicking it before each match(?)
