Just wondering if any of you forumites can remember this game, and how to play it.

We're having a mini-league here at work, but are struggling to work out whats what. We're using playstation pads mapped to a SNES controller through an emulator; so what we've worked out so far is..

Playstation button (SNES button) - action?

(Ball in play)
X (B) - short (low) pass?
[] (Y) - midpass/shoot?
O (A) - midpass/shoot?
/\ (X) - Belt it

(Ball out of play)
/\ (X) - Bench.

Obviously if you hold the button down it adds power, and curve can be added after shooting, but we can't seem to get the buttons figured out reliably :p.

Any advice/tips/directions to FAQs?

Nope but why not just get the amiga version? Multibutton functions ruined the game on consoles, though if I remember wasnt the md version 1 button control as well?

Amiga version is based on how long you hold the button down for it wouldn't suprise me if it's the same for the MD. After touch is what made it go farther - i.e. hoof the ball and just as it leaves your foot put the controller in the other direction to get a high hit ball.

You're better off playing the superior Megadrive version. IIRC, A = banana shot, B = pass, C = straight shot.

Lets just go with the snes version for a minute; as thats the emulator we managed to get working on the staff room pc :p.

Ah those were the days. You either played sensible soccer or kick off 2

I played both. I loved the single player of SWoS (i.e. become a manager of any team have the proper players see there skills go up and down, etc.) but enjoyed more the multiplayer of Kick Off 2 where you could score some astounding goals from the half way line!
