Bored with my 306 HDI estate, as practical and efficient as it is, and looking for something a little bit more exciting to replace it with.

Never had anything with V6 power, so quite fancy trying one!

Should have at least 150bhp, 5 doors would be nice for baby and dog, but would settle for 3 with a nice big hatch.

Have thought Vectra, Mondeo, Golf, MX3, anybody got anything else I should look at? Cheers! :)

"Sensible V6 for £2K"

How can you ask budget?

EDIT: Nice ninja edit, but I saw what u did :p

EDIT2: You could look at the 406 v6, in estate form they would have ample room for child raising ;)

"Sensible"
"V6"
"Less than £2k"

Choose two :).

...that aside, Omega 3.0l MV6/Elite.

If you can go for a 4 door, and don't need those 6 cylinders in a Vee formation then perhaps you can pick up an E36 320i or 325i? (150/192bhp) but TBH a mondeo is probably the best bet, just make sure any plastic water pump impeller has been changed and the head gasket is fine.

Await what? I've already posted

Just with me recommending a Mondeo (and in the last thread about Mondeo's I said they were horrible to drive with no pedal feel).

I was expecting you or Fox to come in and say "told you so" or something like that.

Been hunting for BM's too, but can't seem to find any local examples of the 325i Touring, shame as I'd love one, best looking estate car ever made IMHO.

Hadn't discounted a straight 6, just can't find one! :p

Well, seeing as the 406 V6 has been suggested, I'll suggest the Laguna V6 for kicks. They go quite well, and electrical niggles aside, a friend of mine has one and had no problems at all with it with now 80K coming up on the clock.

you've not posted an apology thread yet saying that the one you drove was just a shed since driving mine :p

Guess where my suggestion lies ;) Best handling of the lot too :)

I can see this getting flamed.

Although i did like my uncles phase 2 V6 he had,was pretty comfortable with the leather and everything being electric.

I posted it knowing it'd get flamed :p

I wouldn't buy one, just merely alerting the OP of the possibility of finding one in budget. He's used to French cars, so perhaps he's used to dodgy electrics et al. ;)

Mondeo would probably my choice so far.

Quite like the idea of a Mondeo, only ford I've ever had was a D plate 1.1 Fiesta, so not really a good experience!

What's the difference between the ST24 and the standard V6? Only problem is that the ST24 seems to be rare in 5dr form.

Also willing to consider anything over 150bhp but NOT a V6, just really like that V6 sound, but also like the Vtec noise, so have been looking for Civic Aerodeck's on the sly.....

Well, since another guy on RT just said that the ST24 he drove was rubbish, I'm thinking that maybe all ST24's were rubbish and just a big con by ford :p

But yes, yours was much much better than the heap of a car I drove previously :) Happy now?

But Tom, do tell... who left you sucking on fumes? :D

As it's a Rover, I'd expect those fumes to be a sign of something about to break! :p

Well, when we parked up there was indeed smoke ;)

I was a little concerned at first but am 99.9% sure it was CV grease dripping onto the exhaust
