Sent item back for repair not recived item back

I had trouble with item (fish tank co2 system) sent back to place bought it from for repair. Item 6months old

They have since said that the item was repaired and sent back to me over a week ago I should have received the item back on Thursday. I contacted the company on the advice of them I went to post office yesterday to see if item arrived at post office for me. Sadly post office has no record of parcels for me. I have just emailed the company and explained that the posty has no parcels for me.

This is a first for me never had delivery issues before. Where do I stand?

Ask them for proof of postage, if they can't then small claims.

Or, you know. Ask them to resolve the issue before beginning legal proceedings. Didn't see anywhere in OP that they've said they won't try and see what's happened/send a replacement out...
