Is it worth having a second domain aimed at a certain location? In this case it would be for a town close by ie www.myservicesinlocaltown.com

If it would be beneficial, is it better to have it as a completely seperate site? With its own hosting etc or can you redirect it to a subpage of the main site?

Thanks.

it's an issue we have and i'm not sure which is the best answer yet. what i did on one of my sites is make one page layout and content, then just have links to different towns in the url and the page optimised for that town such as

http://www.greencarpets.co.uk/carpetcleaning/farnham.php

you can see the title, the url, the testimonial, the h1 etc are farnham, but if you change to aldershot then it'll be aldershot everywhere. seems to work (though still fairly new), but then i do often see other companies with sites exactly like you suggested which link very high.

i think i prefer my way as well as it seems a little more professional and personal then a site named after the town and service
