Not done much SEO in the past is it more or less just adding a nice list of key works in a meta tag along with a good description and submitting to yahoo/google?

What if on yahoo / google there are links that are going to dead links?
I have changed the site to a .php ending so we have index.php

http://www.driver-training-northeast.co.uk/ is the site which I think ranks highly with in google and yahoo.
Is there anything else you think i can do to improve it, other than write a specific meta description for each page?
Interestingly it says get rid off meta keywords?? is this appropriate for this site?
