Can't see a thread for this.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15757165.stm

There is no racism [on the field], but maybe there is a word or gesture that is not correct," Blatter told CNN. "The one affected by this should say 'this is a game' and shake hands.

Ridiculous comments for a man at the head of football. I don't really care if, as he claims, he has been misunderstood or misinterpreted. These comments should be used as a stick to beat his horribly corrupt fat ass out of football once and for all.

It's been mentioned in the banter thread but I think it's such a ridiculous comment it's worthy of it's own thread. I genuinely hope this is the comment that finally gets him forced out of football, how anyone can believe that shaking hands will make it all better is crazy!

They only say it to wind the other player up on the pitch to try and get a reaction, I don't think they are truly racist, how can you be when your own team has different races.

Still shouldn't get away with it and just shake hands though.

I tend to agree with this. A lot is said in the heat of the moment and whilst I've never been racist I've said a lot of horrible things on the football pitch. There are some comments that shouldn't be overlooked, monkey chanting etc certainly shouldn't as it's said thoughtfully and consciously. However when you go to insult someone on the pitch I can see how a racist comment could be made without malice or engaging your brain. Arguably there wouldn't be much difference between me getting snapped by a fat lad or a black guy and turning round and calling them a 'fat ****' or a 'black ****'. It's a comment said to hurt or provoke in the heat of the moment. It wouldn't mean I hate fat people or hate black people.

All the same I despise Blatter, abhor real racism, and think this should be used to rid football of his presence.

I don't think that's really justification though. Fair enough, players are bound to swear at each other on the pitch and have a bit of banter, but racism isn't on, even if they don't really mean it and are just trying to get a reaction.

i really detest blatter and most of FIFA and UEFA they're a joke! how he has remained in charge for so long is beyond me, after the wold cup vote going to countries without any decent facilities or grounds for that fact came in ahead of England , the best league in the world with some brialliant stadiums. Not in a desert either !

The comments he made are not acceptable for someone of his posisition to come out with, i do in some way agree with what he though. In my years of playing rugby and football i've always been teasing the opposite team, its just banter and gets forgotton about at the end of the game.

I know what you mean, but I disagree with this. JT doesn't pick the team, or buy the players, and he knows which side his bread's buttered. I'm not suggesting for an instant that he's a staunch racist, but you don't bring race into anything, plenty of other ways to wind a player up. You make a racist comment, you're perpetuating racism.

Surely the point's come where people stop being surprised what overpaid, undereducated white thugs say or do. The bubble that they live in now, it's not remotely attached to the real world.

there are loads of things he should have been fired for, he will probably get away with this too

I think that will be the greatest irony. He has been corrupt, useless and inept and yet this will be the straw that broke the camels back I reckon.

Look at politicians. You can be rubbish at your job but as long as you are strong with the PC you will be fine.

I loved the media furore that followed the MP that said that not all cases of rape were as serious as each other. Common sense and the truth are dangerous things. That and racism Mr Blatter. Take note.

Please let it be, the straw that broke this donkeys back, cannot stand blatter, nor platini for that matter, pair of corrupt w*****s

He's a bloody limpet. He clung on after that ridiculous comment about gay people in Qatar, and after all the bribery stuff, and he'll no doubt stay after this.

I've no particular rush to see him leave though, as the possible replacements are just as bad. The whole organisation needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch.

Nonsense cheets. As said, players don't pick the team, and being a racist doesn't mean you won't ever pass the ball to a black player.

I keep reading Step Ladder

A step ladder would probably do a better job as head of FIFA tbh...

I don't understand why people complain about fifa yet do **** all about it. They are all just as useless as Blatter and even if he goes we will just get a young Blatter II who accepts bribes, makes rubbish decisions and does nothing.

Fifa has become broken by all of their power, it needs to be broken up and started again and this time with regulations in place to keep it decent, honest and with the true intentions of the game as the main priority.
