Serching for files types on an external drive

Ive currently got a lot of stuff on one of my external folders, spread over several folders in .rar files. Im hoping to be able to unrar them all en mass. However, searching '.rar' in finder when browsing the external doesnt appear to bring up a list of .rar files like it does on the internal hard drive. Is there any way I could find them all without going into each folder and unraring individually?

Maybe check in spotlight preferences that you've not excluded the external drive?

When searching in finder, use "kind:rar" without quotes. You can find more information on how to optimise your search results in this link

Edit: Didn't read the OP properly

What I mentioned above will give you more accurate results but if there are no results showing from your external hard drive, it might be because Finder hasn't indexed it yet?

is it perhaps because the file system is NTFS and im using paragon to read/write to it?

Probably, yes.

I imagine allowing spotlight to index an ntfs drive would be horribly slow but you could look in paragon's preferences.
