Serial PCI Card compatable with Windows 7

Not sure if its the right place to post this.

Looking at buying one of these as i need a serial port on my computer, its for my radio scanner as the cable is only serial (RS232)

Ive heard some can work with 7 and most dont, but surely theres got to be some way it can. Windows would just detect it and install the right drivers for it?

If anyone can shed any light it would be great

Would a USB to RS232 adaptor work?

Apparantly not, there not to good from ive heard and theres no drivers for 7 either. Though someone did say the vista ones could work but im not sure.

Your motherboard may already have a serial controller but you'll need a RS232 IO connector like this to use it:

You'll need to check its manual to find out. It'll be cheaper than buying a expansion card. Whether the serial interface still works in Win 7 is another thing.
