Hi, I have the PowerColor 512Mb X1950 Pro and can't overclock it over 10Mhz on the core or mem when using ATI Tool .25 Beta 14. I have heard that this program is meant to work when overclocking this card but I have had no success. Thing is it mentions on the website that it does not support the 1950 pro's but people have managed to use it.

I have tried using the ATI overdrive facility and i dont like it because the auto overclocking makes me have to hard restart.

I have been experiencing lots of game crashes during R6 Vegas also, think this is down to the card.

Can someone recommend a good overclocking facility?

Thanks guys.

yeh i've read that to but i didn't realise that bad. just found the new ati tray tools and im going to give that a go see if it works then.

Who says it's a bad overclocker? It isn't! mine goes up to 621 clock/797 memory with the standard cooling and no issues. Oh, I have the sapphire though.

wish i could even get near that. I just used ATI tray tools and ran the artifacts scan for the mem with out it being overclocked and my display goes black!! Anyone know what is going on here??

Have you tried setting the overclock method to driver level rather than low level?
I couldn't budge my mem settings until I did that, can now get upto 850 before any corruption! 688 on the core too! :)

oh yeh thanks for that I forgot to change it :p still having trouble with overclocking the mem now, after 5 seconds of finding max mem it says its reached off the scale @ 2100!? can you help?

just being playing R6 Vegas and the computer restarted itself with no overclocking on the gfx card. You thing this could be my cpu overheating because its a stock cooler running @ 3.2ghz from 2.13ghz

ive applied top quality silver paste if that helps. still got no where with overclocking this card, ati tray tools will not let me apply the clock speed. anybody reccomend some other overclocking facillites or know what im doing wrong?

I think it's PowerColor tbh... I had the same experience with my PowerColor X800 Pro (AGP), even a 10Mhz overclock would mess everything up and put artifacts everywhere on the screen - even on the windows desktop on idle load

I would recommend you check and sort out your Overall temps before you increase the clocks elsewhere.
Use temp monitoring software and thrash the crap out of your system and see what temps your CPU reaches. Then if the temps are acceptable you can move on to your GFX card.
Personally i cannot see the point in clocking one piece of hardware if you are not confident about the rest.
Any clock will produce more heat and you Must deal with that Not ignore it.
I think your CPU is borderline and running the overclocked GFX card right next to it is raising All your temps and tripping the CPU out.

I’ve taken my CPU clock down to 2.5Ghz until I get a new cooler and temps are running under 60c on full load now for 2hrs (recorded with core temp).

I have had my pci bus frequency running at 110 is that too high?

I’m still not having any luck with using ATT to overclock either.

ive have reduced my pci frequency to 100 now and will try overclocking via ccc tomorrow. i have noticed less crashing since i have reduced my cpu speed which is good though. must have been overheating.

I am now experiencing my frame rates deteriorating during R6 Vegas after about an hour ish. The longer you play the worse it gets until it either crashes or reboots its self. I thought this could be from overheating but ive checked my temps and my cpu is running no higher than 50c and my gfx card no more than 45c. Anyone had the same sorta problems?
