Basically i need to know the ins and out of cable management to increase the ari flow in my pc because at the moment it just isnt cutting it, i dont need to sleeve or loom any wires just tips on tidying wires so they are not visible and out restricting my pc's air flow. Any help will be great and i will appreciate it i basically need to what to use to stick wires in place etc...

Please help!

Peter :)

Just couple wires together using braided sleeves or spiral wrap and use cable ties to keep the wires out of the way of any components, they are best being tied to optcial drive bay area's if possible to get them well out of the way of the middle near the CPU, GPU, etc where air is travelling across.

Cable ties. You can get cable tie anchor points too if there isnt a handy couple of holes in the case to strap them to.

Keep everything as flat as possible to the walls of the case, and just look at the airflow and visualise where the fans are blowing / sucking from.

Make sure all cables (such as IDE and Floppies) are low profile and preferably round. Much better for airflow. You dont want any flat ribbon cables as these impede the airflow.

A favourite place to push cables is behind the motherboard tray and down the sides (depending on the case).

Make sure there is a gap at the back of the case, and if its pushed inside a desk, that all the cables are out of the way of the psu and exhaust fans. Make sure the fans have somewhere to push the air to.

As the others have said, group cables together and out of the way, and hide cables under the m/b tray if possible. If you aren't using a modular psu, tuck all of the unused cables behind the psu, or behind the 5 1/4 bays. Even if you are using IDE cables, you can still fold them out of the way.

This is my old case, it might not be the neatest in the world, but there's nothing seriously hindering the airflow.

In my current pc, the modular psu helps a lot. I intend to make some tailor-made cables for the drives and graphics card (if I can be bothered!), and I should probably do something about the main 24-way ATX cable. Oh, and some longer sata cables too.

Show us some pics when you're finished!

Put this one together for a mate, PC7+ are easy to keep cables tidy in too ,or maybe that`s because i seem to use nothing else in builds for people these days

Thanks for the pics of the Lian-Li KofTM, about to order the final parts for my new build which is going in a V2100 so very useful to see how I can tidy all the cables to make it neat. Am also thinking of getting the Thermalright Ultra 120 so that was also helpful to see.

No problem mate, you should have loads of room in a V2100!

Kot FM What case is that you posted a pic of? The Lian-Li one, is it the same dimensions as a Lian Li V1000 because i cant get my Ultra 120 to fit the way you have it :(

Thanks, Ben

It's a PC101. The Ultra120 is fitted to an Asus P5B-E plus, and the bottom edge of it is about 15mm from the divider plate. As far as I'm aware the internal structure is the same as the v1000 cases, so I can only assume your m/b has the CPU socket in a different location?
