Serious Graphics Card Problem

Here's my Story, basically ive had this graphics card for about 2 years its a Leadtek 6800 GT. Never had any problems with it untill now, basically what started happening was the screen would ocassionally flash off to a black screen saying "Out of range" then it would go back to the normal screen. At first it only happened briefly but as time passed it would do it and remain on the "Out of range" message for 2-5 mins at a time.

At the time i was using DVI connection and at first i tried all the usual stuff like uninstalling drivers, installng the latest ones then trying older ones. changing the frequency and resolution etc. After this i tried using the old VGA cable and that worked fine, got no more out of range messages and the monitor wouldn't flash black anymore. As time passed and nothing changed, i went back to the old DVI conenction and things still stayed stable

Today after playing Oblivion for a while basically the screen went black with no signal, no messages, nothing. So immediately i tried the old VGA connection again, still nothing. Tried rebooting it a few times, still nothing. Finally I got my old monitor out and tested it on that, just incase it was the monitor, and once again still nothing.

In you guys opinion, does this seem like the card has died? Its not outputing any sort of image on DVI or VGA so i dunno what to think :(

I guess you have tried using the other output if one is availble? If so sounds like a RAMDAC problem on the card. I'd do the usual and try swapping the card for something else to test then put the 6800GT back in. Sounds weird but I dont know the number of times I have had problems with graphics cards and tried to reseat them etc and it hasnt worked until I have tried another card in the slot.

Yeah already tried otehr output with no joy.

Tried what ya said just there, found an old FX5200 so swapped out the 6800 and tried it out. Machine started fine with the FX5200 in it no problems. Tried shutting it down and swapping the 6800 back in, but still no joy. Monitor still remains dead when starting machine up even with everything connected :(

Any other ideas on a fix for this, or is it looking grim?
