hi

im new to cpu's and ive been looking on amazon to buy one but i dont understand the jargon. there are two cpu's roughly the same price but which is better and why? cheers

The Q6600 is a Quad core, so it is made up of 4 cores/cpus

The E7300 is a Dual core, so its only got 2.

Their speeds are similar, you might notice a difference. but it depends what you will be using your PC for? Because theres still not a lot of program that will use all 4 Cores of the Q6600. And the E7300 is based on a newer 45 nm sized chip, so it runs cooler and uses less energy.

And sorry if any of that sounds patronizing
