Misfiring mondeo (Again)

So I have yet another frigging problem with my car.

So when I went to start car this morning it really struggled to start but I thought nothing of it, then 10mins into my journey the car started misfiring badly jolting lots and struggling to get up hills.

Just got back form work (had afternoon off) and its still doing it and now the engine warning light is on, its drivable i.e. if I am extremely gentle with the throttle I can get it going enough to get it to a garage but before I go anyone know what problem could be?

Cheers

Did you not change the plugs too?

It is very recommended to do th both on the Zetec engines, quite a common problem

I dont know about the modeo if you have the room (may be buried too deep). But using a glove pull one lead off then put back on. The lead you pull off which does not affect engine is the winner, It will narrow down which pot it is if nothing else..

^ Thats the way to do it.

Check if theres been any water ingress into the leads and over the top of the spark plugs.

That happened to us shortly after we got a Mondeo 1.6, after the back street garage numpty had pressure-washed the engine bay! Duh...

Had to replace the plugs and the leads

Were both coil packs replaced as they have two if the Duratech engine a primary and secondary. One breaking down can cause the second to fail had to replace both mine last month as the previous owner only replaced one of them.

Its a Duratec engine, Mondeo 1.8 LX 2002 :).

Trouble is that now when I start car, it appears to be fine - even if you rev it in neutral, but as soon as it has to pull the car's weight as well it does it.

Just says ignition coil pack on receipt so I'm guessing not..

One thing I didn't mention is that I filled up the night before at morrisons - a full tank as well - just checked receipt and its defo unleaded petrol :p

As above check the leads again check no moisture has got in, just had a similar problem on my car with misfiring, change of plugs and HT leads sorted it, but was told it could be many things, contaminated fuel, change fuel filter, HT leads/coilpack problems, or worst case head problems, injectors.

Just checked leads, and coil pack and all seems fine to me. I've got car booked in to a local garage so I will report back when I find out what it is.

Just to update, it was the coil pack - completely gone and because it was replaced about 3months ago it was done under that parts warranty for free :D Couldn't have worked out better for me :D (apart from I had to catch the bus to work :p)
