hello, yesterday my dvd/cd rw decided it was going to stop working so after checking device manager and the usual i opened up the case and changed the sata connection on the motherboard it was on. now it does show in bios as being there and works long enough to start a windows installation, but seems to disappear half way through (then dissapear in bios until i turn the system off and then it appears again)
with this happening i thought it might be best to do a fresh install of os and drivers etc as this might of been what caused the problem, but now when im installing windows it says there are no drives (vista ultimate). everytime i go back into bios the drives are there so i dont know what to do. atm im formatting the c: using vistas help tools so ill see if that helps.
system specs are
quadro extreme @ 2.66
striker extreme mobo
2 x 150 raptors
2 x 1gb corsair dual channel
sli'd 8800 gtx's
sb fatality pro
any1 know what could be causing this?? im stuck for ideas now! many thanks in advance
edit: in the vista install when it asks for drivers to load a device, the drive is in the dropdown list...just not in the choices for installing
