Serious Problem

i just took the battery out and let it sit, never touched the Jumper Pins as i thought u didn't have to. (from the manual that is)

So do i pull the battery, then join the pin and boot the machine ?

take alook at page 27 of the mobo manual...

you see there are two diagrams

a) open : normal

b) short : clear CMOS

then go to page 28 of the manual...

it says "if u want to erase the CMOS" - this is what u need to do , to follow...in order to clear CMOS...

so simply by taking the battery out will not clear the CMOS...if your system has a problem like yours its important to clear the CMOS as the problem stopping your system from booting maybe your overclock...perhaps you overclocked too high...so therefore your system halted....by clearing the CMOS , you will of course lose your overclock HOWEVER you will be able to renter windows again and your system will be back to normal...

N.B point two on page 28 ( use a metal object blah blah ) if you have a jumper then just put it over the pins as illustrated in the manual for 5 secs and then reinstall the battery as stated...

good luck

got the gfx card back and it working sweet, will try to reset the CMOS the right way this time.

Just one ?, do i pull the battery out, short the pins and turn on the machine while the pins are shorted?

Right do this, it's pretty much fool-proof!

Unplug the mains lead from the powersupply - leave it unplugged for at least 1 minute.

While waiting, read motherboard manual and locate the clear CMOS jumper.

Pull the battery out. Clear the CMOS, as described in the manual.

Leave jumper for about 5 seconds - that's all it takes. Take CMOS jumper from clear to normal position, as it should have been before moving it.

Replace battery and mains lead, and fire the baby up.

Edit: If that still doesn't work, try the same procedure again, but this time WITHOUT removing the battery.

ok i have tryed almost every combo to reset the CMOS from the boards, the manual and my head but still nothing.

Any other thoughts? Time for a new mobo?

after failing this for 5 - 10 secs or even a few minutes, previously when i left mine on clear overnight that worked for me when 5, 10 secs did not...

perhaps u shorted the mobo at some point because it was working initally so on that note perhaps its RMA time...

ill let the battery stay out over night but if that doesnt sort it then its RMA time indeed.

Just need to find the gigabyte RMA portion of their site
