LOL

You have not even started the game yet.

That entire lot you have done is intended to be pants. It was an "homage" to modern game design, think about it ;)

Now, sit back, and enjoy Sam :)

Lots of people seem to dislike the first 3-4 levels, and love it after it expands after that. So, it is possible if you stick with it another level or two, you will enjoy it more.

Personally, I don't believe the "first 4 levels are intended to be pants" theory - it's a bit silly. What game developer would deliberately make the first few hours experience of a game suck?

um... let's forget that with crappy tutorials, a lot of games do actually do that. But they don't set out to suck.

Serious Sam 3 made a deliberate design decision, to start small-ish, and slowly ramp up to the kind of over-the-top chaotic play you get in the last 2/3rds of the game. This doesn't seem that different to me to SS: TFE, which also started pretty slow. Even so, those early levels still have more crazy violence than any other FPS around at the moment.

The levels get bigger later? I didn't even finish the first bit as it was just terrible.

It gets good enough to keep you playing but don't expect great things.

I play it with the missus, we both loved the first ones and have been fans since it first came out, we also got them in HD.

They were brilliant single player (me playing, her watching and telling me where the secrets are) or co-op, but this new one...

We found the lighting to be over the top, (yes I know it's set in Egypt), with us having to change the graphics settings so we could actually see well enough in some areas.

We constantly felt like we were really waiting for the game to start, every so often we might say "now it feels like Serious Sam" as it got a little chaotic...then it would calm down again.

That was the main problem with it, it feels too slow and the things that made the first games aren't there...

The massed charges of hundreds of enemies just doesn't happen until the final level and even then it's mainly in small waves.

The secrets are rubbish...when you see an armour shard or a small health pack you brace yourself for an onslaught...it didn't happen, not once, all the secrets are hidden behind something or sat on something, there's no imagination in it.

Where were all the fun level design elements? Remember in the earlier games when you end up walking inverted down a wall? That was brilliant and weird...none of that here, it's too 'realistic' for that.

Finally...Sam swearing all the time...why?

Having said all that we still completed it but both feel it was a missed opportunity.
