3rd rock...
I just got my copy of SSBFE today and wasted no time installing it. The game and the graphics are awesome but what compelled me to start a thread was the EXCELLENT way (IMO) that they have implemented the Settings screens.

The GUI is brilliant and the DEPTH of options you can drill into in the Graphics section is just awesome. Erm.....GTAV developers...*clears throat*....take heed....:p

But what really makes this stand out is that you can mess about with ALL the options without a single re-start to apply them.

Any graphical setting, AA, Super AA, Aniso, Shadows, Blur, Particles etc. all applied without those ANNOYING messages some other games have (You know:"Changes will applied after next restart" etc.) So you can rapidly dive in and out of the Settings screens and back to the game to see its effects.

Also like the little touches like optional FPS display.

Seriously what a pleasant change a well-designed GUI makes, Im well impressed. The game looks fantastic on my HDTV. So yea...well done Croteam

I love the way the settings on the submenus are visible at the side of the screen, before you even click on the submenu. It makes finding the settinsg you want, and seeing if you need to change them, so much easier too.

Yea good point! My thoughts exactly.

Initially I thought those little submenus were just eye candy but only after I looked closely did I realize they are showing ACTUAL settings that you made...so no need to go to them even..you can see at a glance at what you have done. Its there hovering quietly alongside the main menu.

Croteam needs to give a whole bunch of game devs out there some GUI lessons :D

Could i hijack this? Sorry.

I get to certain levels where the mouse just goes out of control and starts to spin and make sam look in the air. I cant resolve it. Ive skipped that level but now happens on every level.

Did you pirate the game? the dev put in many things to make the game unplayable/harder/impossible if it detects a pirate copy

I do remember hearing that the pirate copy does that, and also that there's an unkillable scorpion gunner.

That said, I have also heard people complaining about the mouse thing who claim not to have pirated it. It wouldn't be the first time an anti-piracy measure has affected paying customers.

Sadly i don't know the solution, other than the game's tech support channel.

^^ Yeah I tripped the DRM in Batman AA once (and yes I do legally own a copy on steam) and couldn't complete one level no matter how hard I tried until I rebooted my PC. Didn't even realise what the problem was til I googled it and found it was actually a system put in place to stop people who had pirated the game from exiting a certain level. Needless to say 99% of the people who pirated it wouldn't have that issue either :| Fortunatly after rebooting the anti-piracy code went back to behaving itself.

*Does a quick Google search*... it seems that this happens in pirate versions.

Ha! Caught with your trousers down and hoist by your own petard.

Not a sensible thing to admit on a public forum :p

I've always thought that gui design is a skill that many otherwise excellent developers are completely crap at. Look at Skyrim's inventory system. So it's always nice to see one that's actually had a bit of thought put into it.

Just a bit annoying when the button to put one item into a container is the same as the button to remove all items from said container. Nitpicking i know, but it keeps messing with me!:p
