So heres the situation, I just recieved the Steelsound 5Hv2 USB Headset.

I install it all and it works great.

Heres the problem, the very second I plug my Xbox 360 contorller for Windows in, the sound going to the headphones is something atrocious, its all sounds metallic in sound.

If i restart the computer with both plugged in, same issue, if I have the 360 controller in first then plug the headset in, same thing.

Its not just with the steelsound either, it was doing it with my old headset, a logitech USB 120 (which i thought was broke, so i bought the steelsound).

You wouldnt think it would ya, but that damn 360 controller screws everything up.

the only common link I see is the 360 controller is interfering with USB sound ??

If anyone else has, or had, this problem, PLEASE HELP.

Have you tried them in different USB ports? USB ports are generally grouped in pairs and share the bandwidth - naturally, a sound card (built in to a headset or otherwise) will need a lot of bandwidth to operate, so it might have issues when another device is connected. It could also be down to power as USB can only provide a limited amount, again shared between ports.

Ive tried every single possible USB combination and it still happens, But what is getting me is, the problem isnt happening on my laptop.

now im just bafflled

If it's not happening on the laptop it can't be the controller can it.

How many USB ports and devices does the problem PC have?....

The PC has 8 USB ports, 6 Rear, 2 front.

I have (apart from the 360 controller and headset), A Logitech G7 Mouse, a G15 Keyboard and a printer, connected to the USB ports.

I just tried connecting the 2 front audio connectors to the mobo (didnt before because i never had a use for them) but the damn Akasa Mirage case gives the worst set of audio connector pins known to man, not to mention the EVGA 680i mobo has the worst set of instructions of where to insert them, know to man.

So im screwed.

doesnt matter anymore.

Only reason I wanted the USB audio is partly for the virtual 7.1 surround, but mainly so i could just unplug it, and the sound would default to the SPDIF out to my surround system plugged to my TV.

But ive just found out, using the rear Audio jacks (front ones dont work) that the SPDIF and Headphones both work at same time, so no need for hot swapping with the USB anymore.

Its actually worked out in my favour :D

And the 360 controller isnt interfering with the pink and green jacks :D
