Just to complete my misery tonight, a friend has sent me some pics of an awesome looking Challenger

Pics:

528ci Hemi plant stuffed in there. Big disc brakes all around, fairly hefty suspension mods, 17" Minilite-type wheels. I'm going to take a rough guess here and say that it's probably rather quick :D

He didn't tell me what it was being sold for, so I can only assume the figure was huge....*sob*

Yet more car porn. Trying to cheer myself up by looking at stuff that is waaaaaaaay out of my price range rather than tantalisingly close :D

'70 Dodge Coronet R/T. Matching no's 440ci motor, still with it's original inlet manifold and the original factory exhaust manifolds. Probably my favourite muscle car, if that one had a six-pack carb setup it'd be perfect.

Mods - I'll re-size those pics if they're a bit big.

I was trying to think why that Challenger looked so right with that style of wheel, then I remembered:

From the Trans Am glory days. Shame the Challenger didn't do better in the series, but the engines (de-stroked 340ci small block) just weren't reliable in the slightest. Fine as a 340, especially so as a six-pack, but they did suffer in the reliability stakes when taken down to the regulation ~305ci.

thats another keyboard I've just ruined!... :D

As I've said in the 'Childhood Dreams' Thread... I want:

1, Chevrolet - Camaro SS, L78 SS396
2, Dodge - Challenger - 426Hemi
3, Dodge - Charger - 426Hemi
4, Oldsmobile - Cutlas 442-W30
5, Plymouth - Hemi Road Runner - 426Hemi
6, Plymouth - Hemi Baracuda 'Cuda' - 426Hemi
7, Pontiac - GTO (1967) - 400ci

Just need £250,000 and I'm gettin' em!...

Hoo boy. I just found out what the Challenger's price is.

$165k.

For that, you get a fairly epic car though....

529ci Hemi built by R&R Speed Shop in Huntsville, Alabama.
Dyno'd at 688hp @ 6000rpm, 664ft-lbs @ 4800rpm on pump gas (97-98RON)
10.5:1 compression
Holley 1050 Dominator carb.
3.54:1 axle ratio, LSD.
Tremec TKO600 5spd 'box.
CenterForce clutch.

Redesigned suspension front and back - coil overs in front, four link rear.
Brembo discs and calipers, Wilwood hubs.
Wheels are 17x9.5 in front, 17x11 out back. Currently wearing Michelin Pilot Sports.

Current owner has $252k in receipts for all the work....

So, $165k - I make that around £84-85k right now? How much in that price bracket could actually keep up with it? It wouldn't disgrace itself cornering thanks to all the work done, and it'll see most stuff off in a straight line. There's nothing desperately high-tech about it, nothing overly complicated. Just a well thought out and set up chassis, and an engine large enough to bend time. Perfection.
