Hi,

was wondering if anyone has come across this before:

Fresh install of windows server 2003 r2, fresh xp pro install on client, both fully updated etc.

Ran the "Add a role" with typical settings, (AD, DHCP, DNS RA & R etc)

Now, say i have the user "Joe Bloggs" i cannot logon using the "User Logon Name" in the following form

Username: joe.bloggs
Password: *********
Domain: Contoso

if i use the UPN;

[email protected]
********

It works fine! if i use the NT4 format of contoso\jbloggs it works fine! but joe.bloggs without upn suffix will not work whatsoever.

The error says "system cannot log on, username / password is incorrect" which it clearly isnt. the account is unlocked, logon hours ok, its not set to expire.

ive rejoined the workstation to the domain, still no joy. user still in default "user" container.

Any help would be great

thanks!
