I'm after some advice. I want to build a Windows Server 2003 machine and allow 5 thin clients to open a Remote Desktop session to it.

What do I need to order to comply with Microsoft's licensing rules?

I have been quoted over £1000 for the following:
1 x Server 2003 License
5 x Windows CAL's
5 x Windows TS CAL's
1 x Install CD

Any thoughts/comments appreciated - unless anyone knows of 'another' way of doing it, in which case my email is in my trust :)

No real point getting people to e-mail you.
Either you want to do this legally or you don't.

If you want to do this legally then £1000 possibly sounds a little high, but not by that much - I'm assuming that is an inclusive of VAT all in price?
The copy of Win2k3 Server you buy will usually come with the 5 CAL's.
You can buy a version without any CAL's - but then you'd just need to add them on anyways.
5 TS CAL's are a requirement to.
Actually £1000 seems about right as an all in price.

If you weren't looking to do it legally then you know how to get it done cheaper.

Does SBS enable you to use Terminal Services?

If so, that would be a cheaper option....

You can use terminal services though if you want to do a proper terminal services server you will have to buy it.

Limited to 75 users for SBS as well.

£1,000 sounds really high for the low users. I suppose it depends on which version of Windows Server you're getting (Enterprise, etc.)
