Hi Guys,

I need abit of advice, I went to a customers site where there domain controller had gone down, turns ot the HDD on the RAID 1+0 had failed so i took it away and replaced the harddrive

RAID rebuilt but now when it boots it gets NTSKRNL.exe missing

tried to boot from CD but it just sits on examining Disk 0 on HpCISSs2 (Raid Controller)

Tried a differant CD and same issue

My mind is telling me its a rebuild of the logical array and complete reinstall of server 2003 - as its a DC I assume I will have to give it a new server name as AD wont like it with a diff SSID?

its a member DC without a backup which was also a print server and DHCP/DNS

any advice?

Did you pull the right disk?

Boot it on SmartStart and run array diagnostics.

You can re-add it with the same name if you delete the old DC Computer account from the AD. Did it have any FSMO roles?

yep, the one with the red light :)

Smart Start says both disks are now OK where as before it had failed next to the bay 2 disk (which I replaced) but still locks up when doing anything to do with accessing the hard drives, including running the smart start CD which took 4 attempts just to get the tool to run!

no FSMO roles

really dont want to rebuild but seems that it maybe the only way to point out a possible faulty controller
